If you’re serious about letting 2020 be the year you reach your goals, you should start by making sure you’re setting realistic and reachable goals for yourself, and not merely making resolutions.

With 2019 finally out of the way, and a brand New Year on the horizon, everyone is busy making some type of resolutions and vows to commit to something or another. Personally, I plan to revisit some of my own Medium stories, and remember to take some of my own good advice.

Planning and Productivity

In case you’re a new Medium reader, or you simply haven’t had an opportunity to check out some of the stories mentioned at the end of this article, I invite you notice the titles. See if there isn’t something here that can help you be more productive during the upcoming year.

In order to successfully accomplish the things on your “To Do” list for the year, it will take planning, action, and commitment. This formula is necessary, regardless of what your goals and aspirations are.

Setting Attainable Goals

Constant failure is not a good feeling and sometimes, it can cause us to stop trying. That is why it’s so important to set reachable goals. Reaching a goal successfully, is such a great feeling, that it spurs you on to setting more goals; resulting in bigger and better achievements. Are your 2020 goals realistic and truly attainable? If you believe they are, then COMMIT to attaining them this year!

But there’s one important thing to keep in mind about your commitment to reaching your goals for the year. In order to be successful in whatever you’re trying to achieve, you may need to make some changes, in fact, 9 times out of 10, something will have to change. Are you prepared to make room for change?

Try Different Perspectives

Change can be one of the hardest things for us to accept, but there’s no disputing that in many cases, it is definitely necessary. Typically, we as humans find ourselves repeating the same dumb mistakes that are counterproductive to whatever it is that we’re trying to accomplish. So don’t let the new year catch you doing things the same way, if you are hoping for a different result!

One of my goals for the new year is to read more books and I realize that in order for me to do this, I have to adopt a new perspective, when it comes to the things I read. For me, that spells change, but the end result will be worth it, so I accept the commitment.

After you ponder over the simple but practical points brought out in this article, remember to visit Medium stories that you feel will help you successfully attain your goals this year, like these:
